Your Priorities, Your Big Rocks

What areas did you choose to prioritise or focus on at the start of the year?

What were you hoping to change or achieve? And in which area of life and/or work?

  • Perhaps you’re keen to have more 1-1 time with your partner, certain friends or children.
  • Maybe you’ve new territories, sectors or client segments to explore and develop?
  • You might have prioritised some more ‘me time’ for yourself.
  • Or, did you decide to ramp up your physical fitness and wellbeing?

Whatever area you chose to prioritise, how is it going so far?

February is the perfect time to pause and sense-check things.

Why?

  1. If you’ve neglected your plans so far, you’ve a clear choice to make now:
    a. Commit. Start today and stay on top of it daily…or…
    b. Ditch it, if it isn’t actually an important and meaningful priority.
  2. If you’ve made a start, then focus on the GAIN you’ve made, not the gap. Look at where you are, not where you hoped to be – move forward from here.
  3. If you’ve progressed well, consider how you can now use your momentum and heightened awareness. What else is possible that you might not have been able to consider before?

It’s so easy to slip back into the ways of working and living that you’ve come to know so well. That’s your comfort zone, even if it’s not overly comforting or fulfilling operating that way.

What got you here might keep you here.

A break gives you perspective. Pay attention to what you identified as meaningful pursuits not so long ago. You probably had a suitably fresh view and clear lens to address your own needs then.

You don’t need a holiday to regain this clarity.

Just give yourself an hour, distraction free, in a peaceful environment. Embrace the headspace and freedom that provides for you. Tune into yourself.

I’m lucky to have a group that I use for accountability in this space. It helps me get the Big Rocks in place first.

  • If you’re not familiar with the Big Rocks concept, it’s a handy one to be aware of. This 4 minute video illustrates the point well.
  • If you don’t have support and accountability, then reply to this email and explain what it is that you’re looking for.
