Where Most Teams Fall Short

We can’t go fast all the time. Nor can we expect high performance on an ongoing basis.

Take the overused metaphor of the F1 car. In order to go fast, it has to include pit stops, tyre changes and so on. It takes the entire off-season, and the majority of the week outside of racing days to prepare the car and driver for high performance.

What about us humans? We’re infinitely harder to lead than the F1 car.

We are complicated psychological and emotional beings with subconscious patterns dictating our behaviours outside of our own awareness…

We intend one thing, but it impacts others in unexpected ways. Communications are interpreted differently.

Put a few of us in a team together and it gets exponentially more complicated.

Most teams (including leadership teams) we observe in our client organisations know what they’re aiming for. They usually have clear enough objectives and KPIs.

Where many come unstuck is when the pressure comes on, they prioritise their own agenda over the team one. The revert to the silo mentality.

This simply creates waste. A waste of energy, time, intelligence and opportunity.

If you’re leading a team, or you’re part of one, and you’d like to discuss ways to mitigate against this risk, then get in touch.

Whether it’s a team day out or a team coaching programme, we’ll bespoke a solution to your team’s needs.

When team members put so much energy and effort into individual performance, why waste that by not aligning your team members’ in the same unified direction.

Let them clarify why they’re working as a team, how they can support each other to thrive, and who will play what role. Let them be at or near their best.
