Transforming Pressure into Performance

The past fortnight has been busy.

Late evenings, packed client delivery days, and even on the “quieter” days I was bouncing between prep calls, content design, Arena projects, client emails, scheduling challenges, and inboxes full from different directions.

Lots of filled space. Very little empty space.

It made me laugh, because it’s exactly what I hear from clients all the time.

What I’m reminded of in these periods is how much difference small resets can make.
Earlier today, I came across the Bee and Butterfly analogy:

  • A bee buzzes around making noise, often unsettling those nearby.
  • A butterfly glides, with the same number of touchpoints, yet leaves people feeling lighter and calmer.

That image alone slowed me down. It pulled me out of the busy headspace, if only for a moment.

And that’s often enough.

These resets don’t only come from content I stumble across. They often emerge in sessions themselves. Whether it’s 1:1, group or team coaching, clients surface insights that are just asrelevant for me as for them.

Add in the encouragement I get from my own support group, plus a couple of days off booked for Lisbon, and I’m reminded that busy seasons can still be enjoyable.

None of this means stress and frustration disappear. They’re part of the deal. But noticing the signs earlier, and having a few anchors in place, helps keep me steady.

For me those anchors include:

  • Moving my body and training for Hyrox.
  • Switching attention fully to family when I’m with them.
  • Keeping something enjoyable on the horizon.
  • Getting clear on what I want from each task before I jump between them.

What about you?

What helps you in your busiest periods?
