If you like being grumpy in January, or if you hate the month, look away.
In fact, you might want to unsubscribe.
I LOVE JANUARY.
Why?
It’s partly because I feel it is so restorative. I like laying low. I sleep well and for longer. I read more in January.
Every dip in the sea is better than the last, like some kind of deeper cleanse takes place.
The kids seem more easily persuaded to go for walks with us, probably because our friends and their kids are at the same thing. Walks and hikes are fresh, crisp and good for the soul.
The nervous system just seems to recalibrate.
I also love my work in January.
SLT Coaching:
This week I’ve worked with a senior leadership team (SLT) who each manage teams of high performing sales reps. They had a great 2024, they want to grow and improve across the board in 2025. They looked inward first, to their team dynamic. Once that was strengthened, then they started to collectively address their strategy and tactics.
Group Coaching:
Paul, Jen and I worked with a group of emerging leaders yesterday. They showed up wondering what this programme would be like. It was all about them, their strengths, their perspectives, their growth. They left feeling excited, invigorated and energised for the next stage of their career. They know it’s theirs to own.
Community and Private Groups:
In the TRIPS Tank Coaching Community, we’re setting our vision and clarifying our intentions for the year ahead. There’s a positive contagion that kicks in – they each drive each other forward in all areas – in work, in relationships, in inner game and in physical wellbeing.
The group of business owners that Paul and I are taking to the Deerstone Eco Resort tomorrow are doing the same. They’re just immersing themselves in their own agenda for 2 days, in nature, in activity – no distraction. They’re clarifying what living ‘all-in’ means to them in 2025, and they’re strategising and planning to live and experience it.
Honestly, this line of work is such a privilege. It’s so rewarding, so encouraging, so fulfilling.
What’s not to love?!
As I said last week, our best laid plans can unravel pretty quickly. With that in mind, I think it’s important to embrace the seasons of life, of the year, and of any time frame you want!
It’s about making the most of the present. January seems to offer that opportunity so purely, so coherently.
I LOVE JANUARY!
