Partnerships Are Powerful

I’ve been thinking about the people I work closely with in TRIPS Tank.

I benefit enormously from our working relationships.

So I dug a little deeper.

What do I value most in working with others?

With Amy, who I work closely with every day, it’s easy to pin point. Aside from her dependability, positive disposition and solutions focus, she’s energised working on things I don’t enjoy.

With my fellow TRIPS Tank coaches and facilitators, they’re A Players. They bring a level of expertise in certain areas that I don’t. They’re trustworthy, fun and low maintenance.

In both examples above, we’re like-minded without being the same. We complement each other.

I’ve kissed a few frogs along the way. I’ve worked with some freelancers who created more of a mess than I could have alone. And I’ve engaged with other coaches and facilitators in my business that provided some painful learning opportunities.

Really painful!

If I was to sum up what works well in the relationships I value, it all boils down to this…

They help simplify things for me.

This is so important. Why?

Performance = Potential – Interference.

When they simplify things for me, they reduce interference. So my performance as a business owner or a coach taps into more of my potential than it would otherwise.

I over-complicate things that I don’t fully understand. I see problems that don’t exist, or that aren’t relevant. I get distracted.

Last week a friend who mentors and advises me asked me a great question (well, he asked me a few actually)…

Why don’t you leverage your network more?

Since answering the question, I’ve had three very powerful conversations with people in my network. Three conversations that simplified the way forward.

When you’re clear on the 20% of your efforts that produce 80% of your joy, results or performance – ask yourself WHO in your network can help you increase that 20% to a higher number.

  • Schedule the conversation.
  • See where it takes you.
