Dare to Explore – New Heights

Breaks are important. You know that already. But so is stepping into something that stretches you – something that wakes you up a bit.

I’ve mentioned recently that over the next few months, I’ve lined up a mix of both.

Next weekend, I’ll be in Lisbon for two days with a friend and accountability partner. The focus? Stepping out of day-to-day delivery, creating time to both reflect on recent time and also think long-term. I want to make the most of the rest of this year and also figure out how next year is shaping up too.

Just space — for big-picture thinking, good food, and a change of scene.

Then in November, Ciara and I are taking on a Hyrox mixed event together. It’s a physical test for both of us, and the training has been good fun so far.

And beyond that sits something even bigger: Dare to Explore – an eight-month journey culminating in climbing the seven highest peaks in Morocco in eight days.

It’s being led by my good friend and colleague Paul Gleeson, and it’s much more than a mountaineering challenge. It’s designed to push the boundaries of comfort, strengthen body and mind, and use adventure as a way to reflect, reset and reconnect with who you are — and who you’re becoming.

Between now and next June, we’ll have a series of touchpoints together as a team, exploring themes like intention setting, fear, grit, and vision.

The physical training will prepare the body. The adventure will ignite the spirit. The journey will transform how we live and lead.

That combination of challenge and calm alongside stretch and stillness is what keeps me energised. It’s also what helps me stay grounded when things get hectic.

So here’s a thought for you this week:

  • What’s the right stretch for you right now?
  • Where do you need to push beyond what’s comfortable – or slow down enough to reset?
